Question for the old guys! Empty Question for the old guys!

Post  karajutsu Mon Mar 30, 2009 4:30 pm

Hi All,
Forums are for discussions, learning from each other and getting to know other fellow budoka, etc. So i thought it would be a good idea to ask a question. Would Phil have made it into the England Karate team in his day? i know he had his own way at looking at kumite! but if he abided by the rules do you think he would have got in the team in the 70,s? I know there was a lot of politics and Phil loathed all the politiacal crap in karate but for me i think he was up there with the best of them.

Question for the old guys! Empty Don't really qualify...

Post  Ninj Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:38 am

Hi Mike

Being a 'spritely' 44 year old, I don't REALLY qualify as an old guy Wink...

However, Phil would have made it for sure. But, as you you say, if he abided by the rules, he would have been a champion.

If the scoring had gone against him however, I guess after downing his opponent, he would have had the Ref, the Four Judges and any member of the audience who chose to disagree...bless him.

Best wishes

Dave
